Abstract
Brunner’s gland, primarily located in the submucosa of the duodenum, between the pyloric ring and the papilla of Vater, are tubuloacinar glands whose mucin product serves to protect the duodenal mucosa against acid chyme from the stomach. Most cases of Brunner’s gland hamartoma have been diagnosed in the duodenum, but sporadic reports of gastric, jejunal and esophageal occurrences are documented. Brunner’s gland hamartoma of the stomach is very rare and presentation with gastric perforation is quite uncommon. We report a rare case of gastric Brunner’s gland hamartoma presenting with gastric perforation and acute abdomen.
