Frequency: Twice a year (January-June; July-December)
Subject: The Sierra Leone Journal of Medicine (SLJM) addresses the critical need for a biomedical journal in Sierra Leone and the surrounding subregion, which are currently underrepresented in global academic publishing. While the journal welcomes submissions from researchers worldwide, its primary focus is on medical and healthcare issues relevant to Sierra Leone and West Africa.
SLJM publishes research across Basic Medical Sciences (including Pathology and Pharmacology), Clinical Sciences, and Biomedical Specialties, and encourages interdisciplinary studies that advance healthcare delivery and medical education. Contributions from allied health fields such as Nursing, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Public Health, and Clinical Psychology are also welcome.
Readership: The journal is designed for a diverse audience, including local and international researchers, practicing physicians, resident doctors, and allied health professionals such as nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, and clinical psychologists. We also engage medical and allied health students, as well as policymakers interested in evidence-based healthcare and clinical advancements.
Archiving: The Sierra Leone Journal of Medicine is committed to the long-term preservation of its published content. All articles are archived in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) to ensure secure and perpetual access. Additionally, authors are permitted to self-archive both the submitted (preprint) and accepted (peer-reviewed) versions of their articles at any time and for any purpose they deem fit.
